Some useful information
From November 24 until December 23, 2022, immerse yourself in the enchanted atmosphere of Christmas in the heart of Old Quebec! From Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville to Place d’Youville, you will find 90 exhibitors and artisans, as well as their local and European creations. Presented by the Galeries de la Capitale and Maison Simons, access to the German Christmas Market is totally free. This is an opportunity to stroll in a magical setting while making beautiful finds to put under the tree!
Usually open Thursday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., you will even have time to go there at different times if you are in Quebec City for several days. As tradition dictates, German Christmas markets are open during the Advent season, starting on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and ending on December 24. Designed by the German Community of Quebec, the event draws its inspiration from the best European markets to transport you to a magical world.
What to do at Quebec City’s German Christmas Market
If you plan to visit the German Christmas Market with the family, a ton of activities and entertainment await you, including the Theaterplatz, a brand new puppet theater that will appeal to young and old alike. We also advise you to take a look at the Bergdorf, the new alpine village located on Place d’Youville, and at the Château du Père Noël on Place d’Armes.
For foodies, many gourmet kiosks await you to taste local products as well as European specialties. Soft pretzels, gingerbread cookies, decadent cakes and German sausages are just some delights you will find there. And why not accompany it all with a glass of mulled wine or a peppermint coffee to warm you up while strolling among the different chalets?
