Eat & Drink : Discover the Bistro St-Malo

Among the hundreds of restaurants in Quebec City, there is one that we particularly like to go to and that we recommend to our clients who love authentic French cuisine: Le Saint-Malo.

Both a bistro and a romantic restaurant, we are tempted to create a new category of restaurants called Bistromantique. Here, the atmosphere is perfect for tĂŞte-Ă -tĂŞte and convivial meals with a few friends. The team will welcome you with a smile, will go out of their way to find you a place when everything is complete, and whether it is in the dining room or the kitchen, everyone will do their best to make sure you have a memorable time.

What about the menu? We are among the great French classics, revisited just right by the duo of Phillipe’S, who are in charge of the kitchen. For starters, if the onion soup, tartars, mussels, terrines, foie gras, and snails are there, we can also notice a local celebrity, the Poutine, married to a famous Frenchman the Duck confit.

The choice among the dishes is just as complicated to make, so much so that everything makes your mouth water: the gourmands will go for the sweetbreads, cassoulet, ravioli, scallops, rabbit bourguignon, duck, and other black pudding, while the more reasonable will opt for the fish of the day or the sea stew. Finally, it’s much simpler for dessert; listen to us and opt for our favorite, the homemade Tarte Tatin for two.

About the wines, you can choose from a selection of privately imported bottles at very reasonable prices. Here, no commercial or absurdly unaffordable wines, but beautiful wines of appellations (France, USA, Italy, and Spain) as well as small domains and producers to discover. Don’t be shy, and ask AndrĂ©a to guide you, and then rely on your spirit of curiosity. Everything is good, and you can’t go wrong.
